You read that right, FREE weekly self defense classes at Bidwell Park.
With the uprise of violence in our great city, we are told not to walk alone at night and don't have our faces in our cell phones but no one ever says what to do besides being aware of your surroundings. In these classes we hope to give you the tools to protect yourself if you ever find yourself in a less than ideal position. We will share tips on how to be aware of what is going on around you, what to do if you feel threatened and last but not least, what to do if you are being attacked.
You will start out each class with a yoga warm up, to get lose and get focused and get present in your body and mind. Then the self-defense instructions begin, you'll learn how to:
- Use an attackers momentum against them.
- Get out of a wrist grab and a bear hug among other useful techniques.
You are encouraged to come to as many of the classes as possible in this session, as practice makes perfect and you'll gain muscle memory which could be an excellent asset if ever attacked.
This event is open to all, please wear comfortable clothing and bring a positive attitude so that we can take back the night!
