A New Dawn, A New Day At Buffalo Public Schools
At a swearing-in ceremony earlier today, Buffalo Public Schools welcomed two new members to the Board of Education: Patti Pierce and Larry Quinn. Together with existing board members James Sampson, Carl Paladino and Jason Mccarthy, they are expected to form a new majority that is generally pro-charter schools.
Dr. Barbara Seals Nevergold, Dr. Theresa Harris-Tigg, Sharon Belton-Cottman and Mary Ruth Kapsiak will make up the generally pro-public schools coalition.
Upon its swearing-in, the newly established board elected James Sampson as its new Board President.
The Buffalo Board of Education also welcomed new student representative Bicana Brown. Bicana is a rising senior at Leonardo daVinci.
The Board of Education meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. The meetings begin at 5:30 pm and are held in room 801 at City Hall, unless a venue change is previously announced. These sessions are open to the public. Click here to view BOE calendar.
